This is the second Grand Slam judo competition in our capital.
The famous Grand Slam judo competition continues at the sports complex named after Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov, bringing together 450 athletes from 84 countries.
It is a great joy that our country hosts the Qazaqstan Barysy Grand Slam competition, which gives license points for the Paris Olympics in judo. The best judokas in the world, 3 Olympic champions and 13 world champions specially came to these competitions. We remind you that the Qazaqstan Barysy Grand Slam tournament started yesterday at the Martial Arts Palace named after Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov in Astana.
As a result of yesterday, Galia Tynbaeva competed for the first time in the women's group in the up to 48 kg category, and two-time Olympic medalist Eldos Smetov won a bronze medal in the up to 60 kg category.
According to the rules of the world competition, 1000 points are awarded for 1st place, 700 points for 2nd place, and 500 points for 3rd place.
The final Grand Slam tournament, where Olympic rating points are distributed, will last until May 12.
