The opening ceremony of the World Para Judo Championship took place in Astana

The opening ceremony of the World Para Judo Championships — IBSA Judo World Championships Astana 2025 took place at the Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov Martial Arts Palace.

The event was attended by Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerbol Myrzabosynov, President of the International Sports Federation of the Blind (IBSA) Ilgar Rahimov, President of the IBSA Judo Janos Tardos, as well as representatives of diplomatic missions, international sports organizations, national federations and partners of the tournament.

It should be noted that the World Para Judo Championships are being held in Astana from May 13 to 15, and more than 300 athletes from 38 countries are taking part in it. This is the largest international tournament, which is held every four years and is included in the list of licensed competitions for the 2028 Paralympic Games in Los Angeles.
