From August 20 to 28, the Palace of Martial Arts named after Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov will host an international boccia tournament among para-athletes.
About 56 athletes from 12 countries are expected to take part in the competition. The program includes individual, pairs, and team events.
Representing the capital and Kazakhstan at the tournament will be:
- Itiana Kerimovna
- Erkhat Almatuly
They will compete in both individual and team events.
This tournament serves as a qualifying stage for the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympic Games and also provides athletes with the opportunity to earn ranking points.
It is worth noting that boccia in Kazakhstan began to develop in 2018 on the initiative of parents of children with musculoskeletal disorders. In 2021, the Kazakhstan Boccia Federation was established, and the sport received official recognition.
We invite everyone to come and support our athletes!
