Kazakhstan futsal team is a step from getting at the world championship

Today in Astana, at the Martial Arts Palace named after Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov, a match of the elite round of qualifying for the 2024 Futsal World Championship will take place between the national teams of Kazakhstan and the Netherlands. 

Our team plays in Group A together with the national teams of Romania, Azerbaijan and the Netherlands. After four rounds, Kazakhstan leads the group with 12 points. The Dutch team is in fourth place with 1 point. Let us note that the national team ranks 4th in the European rankings and 7th in the world rankings.

On the eve of the match, Minister of Tourism and Sports Ermek Marzhikpayev visited the team’s training session and supported our players. The main coach of the futsal team, Kaka, spoke about the readiness and fighting spirit of the guys before the upcoming match.

“The Kazakhstan futsal team is one of the strongest teams in the world. At the last World Championship, Kazakhstan took 4th place, we were bronze medalists at the European Championship in 2016. I wish our team victory. We all believe that passage to the World Championship will take place in this game in our native walls,” said Ermek Marzhikpayev. 

The Futsal World Cup qualifying elite round will conclude with two matches between 14 and 20 December. Victory in one of these matches will enable the Kazakhstan national team to advance directly from first place to the final tournament of the 2024 World Championship, which will be held in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) from September 14 to October 6, 2024.
