Today marks the birthday of Honored Master of Sports of the USSR, Olympic champion, World champion, and Hero of Labor of Kazakhstan, Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov.
The master of Greco-Roman wrestling would have turned 75 today.
Let us remember together the glorious path of victories and the bright legacy of our outstanding wrestler.
In 1975, Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov became the champion of the Summer Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR. He won the USSR Championships twice and was a six-time medalist.
He also won the Kazakhstan Championships multiple times.
In 1980, he became the silver medalist of the European Championship, the Olympic champion in Moscow, and a World champion!
We wish that the remarkable journey of Zhaksylyk aga on the wrestling mat inspires future generations of athletes.
