The Third Republican Paralympic Boccia Championship of Kazakhstan will be held at the Zhakyp Uskembayev Wrestling Palace from May 27 to 31, 2024.

The official opening ceremony of the Championship took place today.

It was attended by the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, President of the Kazakhstan Boccia Federation Ashimbeev Maulen Sagatkhanovich, and Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Marzhikpaev Yermek Boranbayuly.

89 athletes from 10 regions and 2 cities of the country will compete in today's Championship.

The Championship is being held with the support of general partners JSC Samruk-Kazyna, the Sport Qory Sports Support Fund, the State Republican Enterprise Center for Sports Training for Persons with Disabilities and the Akimat of Astana.

It is worth noting that boccia is a ball game. This makes it one of the few Paralympic sports that allows children and adults with severe musculoskeletal impairments to improve their skills. In our country, the Boccia Federation was created in 2021 at the initiative of parents raising children with disabilities and coaches of the public foundation World of Equal Opportunities.
