From November 3 to 5, 2023, the republican freestyle wrestling tournament among children 2012-2014 and juniors 2009-2011 dedicated to the memory of Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov, the first champion of the Kazakh Olympics, world champion in Greco-Roman wrestling, Hero of Labor of Kazakhstan, Honored Master of Sports of the USSR will be held in the capital.

The tournament is held in order to develop and popularize freestyle wrestling in the Republic of Kazakhstan, improve sportsmanship and identify the strongest athletes in regions and cities of republican significance.

The official opening ceremony of the competition will take place on November 4 at 12:00 at the Martial Arts Palace named after Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov.

The tournament is held by the Committee for Sport and Physical Education of the Ministry of Tourism and Sport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Greco-Roman, freestyle and women's wrestling federations and the Astana city sports department.
