An international Greco-Roman wrestling tournament dedicated to the memory of Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov has started in Astana.

Today, an international Greco-Roman wrestling tournament among wrestlers under 20 years old started in the capital at the Martial Arts Palace named after Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov.

Minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askhat Oralov, Deputy Akim of Astana Erlan Bekmurzaev, President of the Kazakhstan Federation of Women's, Greco-Roman and Freestyle Wrestling, Member of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Daulet Turlykhanov, elder brother of Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov Sat Tokpakbaev attended the ceremony and made a speech.

Also, those gathered at the opening ceremony honored the memory of Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov with a minute of silence. Let us remind you that if the Zhaksylyk Ushkampirov were alive, he would have turned 72 this year.

In the coming days, along with wrestlers from different regions of the country, 164 best athletes from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan and Israel will perform in 10 weight categories. An important match will be a competition to select the best young wrestlers.

This international tournament, held for the third time, will last until May 18.
