The Asian Para-volleyball Championship started in Astana for the first time!
In honor of the 25th anniversary of the capital, from July 3 to 8 at the Martial Arts Palace named after Zh. Ushkempirov hosts the Asian Sitting Volleyball Championship (pair volleyball) for the first time.
About 200 athletes from Kazakhstan, Japan, Mongolia, South Korea, India, Thailand, Iraq and Iran will take part in the competition. The winners of the championship will receive tickets to the XVII Summer Paralympic Games Paris 2024.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askhat Oralov, the President of the Asian Volleyball Federation Lu Kai Lan, the President of the Kazakhstan Volleyball Federation, Deputy of the Chamber of the Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Duisenbay Turganov, Deputy Akim of the Nura district Aliya Absemetova.
Having congratulated the athletes and wished them good luck, the Minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askhat Oralov read out a special congratulation from the President of the country Kassym-Jomart Tokayev:
