From August 10 to 13 at the Martial Arts Palace named after. Zh. Ushkempirov in Astana, the opening ceremony of the Republican Spartakiad among central government bodies took place.

The event was attended by Chairman of the Committee for Sports and Physical Culture of the ISS Erol Myrzabosynov, Olympic boxing champion Serik Sapiev and weightlifting star Ilya Ilyin.

The purpose of the Spartakiad is to promote a healthy lifestyle, attract civil servants to systematic sports, cultivate team spirit, dedication, will, perseverance and desire to win.

24 teams take part in the competition. They compete in skills in 6 sports: futsal, volleyball, Kazak kuresi, togyzkumalak, table tennis, billiards and determine the strongest.
